Aviation Accessories That Work
When Charles Lindbergh made his fabled flight across the Atlantic, he didn’t carry a lot of extras in the Spirit of St. Louis. In fact, it might surprise some of today’s pilots to find that Lindbergh didn’t have much more than a compass and a few sandwiches to keep him company on that lonely flight. Aviation has come a long ways since Lucky Lindy’s days and that means that modern cockpits are much more comfortable than they were 70 years ago.
In the modern aviation age, there’s an eye popping assortment of gadgets and accessories that make flying a small aircraft less of an ordeal than it once was. But along with the truly useful products like the Garmin 496 come a whole slew of accessories that do little more than take up valuable space in the cockpit. So how can aviators know what’s junk and what’s really useful?
For starters, aviators should always use utility as their guide when purchasing accessories. That means items like AirGizmo products that enhance the usability of other cockpit essentials like a GPS are well worth having around.
We can all debate whether Lindbergh would have used these devices, but we’ve got them and modern pilots should take advantage of them.
